Good point. I think the emphasis should be on the swolen eye rather than making it bloody. Maybe below the eye, maybe above. I think closing it up entirely so he can only see through one eye would be going a bit too far (but feel free to persuade me otherwise).

Fantastic work on the tests so far. Scary seing what Duncan will look like in two, three years time! Haha

*Gives us an idea how much of an alteration can be achieved through make-up though.

Gelatine Shotgun Wound Test- gelatine bends with the bodies shape, can be manipulated to follow curves of protruding bones etc.. Application easy as pre-made and sculpted. Slightly more expensive to produce, but can make multiples and spares. Reduces time needed on set, Visually effective.*Check for Allergy

Using only colouring and shading, no raised appliances.

Using Reel Pallete and Bruise Gels, Very effective, tricks eye into thinking the area is quite swollen. Good Alternative to Gelatine, can wear for extended periods without irritation.

Using Morticians Wax, cream make-up and bruise powder.

Not flexible, edges begin to peel with movement, so doesn’t work for our characters requirements. No bleeding required. Injury from the previous day. Like the tone of the bruise powder, do not use cream make-up for bruise pigmentation, sits on the skin, doesn’t have optimum realism.

With Eye Blood, doesn’t work for the type of look we want. Needs to replicate broken blood vessels in the eye, not bleeding eye. Look into specialist contact lenses as an alternative.
